Terms of use.

A local browser extension, free with optional Pro.

Redactopia is free to use. An optional paid Pro tier adds higher limits and extra redaction and detection tools; Pro purchases and licensing are handled by LemonSqueezy, acting as Merchant of Record. The extension runs locally in your browser and is a best-effort safety net, not a security product, compliance platform, or data loss prevention (DLP) system. Detection is pattern-based, so it can miss sensitive content and flag things that aren't risky.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Redactopia for personal or professional purposes on devices you own or control.

Using it means agreeing.

Installing or using Redactopia means you agree to these terms.

Who can use it.

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority or the age required to use online services in your jurisdiction, you may only use Redactopia with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

A small set, each with a purpose.

Redactopia requests a small set of browser permissions, each tied to a specific feature. The full breakdown (what each one does, when it's requested, and when it's revoked) is in the Privacy Policy.

Stays in your browser.

Prompt text isn't sent, stored, or shared. Everything Redactopia stores stays in your browser's local extension storage. The full picture is in the Privacy Policy.

You decide what gets sent.

You are responsible for reviewing your content before submitting it to any third-party website or AI service. Redactopia does not approve, authorize, vouch for, or guarantee the safety, privacy, compliance, or appropriateness of anything you send.

By using Redactopia, you knowingly assume the risk that detection may miss sensitive information, that automatic redaction may fail, and that you remain solely responsible for the consequences of anything sent.

A best-effort safety net, not a guarantee.

Redactopia is a best-effort safety net, not a security product, audit tool, or compliance platform. It does not guarantee privacy, security, regulatory compliance, or safe sharing. It does not certify that sensitive data has been removed from any prompt.

Not a substitute for professional judgment.

Redactopia does not provide legal, security, compliance, privacy, or other professional advice. Do not rely on it as a substitute for your own judgment, your organization's policies, or advice from qualified professionals.

Their terms apply to your use of them.

Your use of third-party websites, AI tools, browsers, and extension stores is governed by their own terms. Redactopia does not control those services and is not responsible for their behavior, availability, interface changes, or how they handle content you submit. Redactopia is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any third-party AI service, website, browser, or extension store.

What you can do, and what you can't.

You agree not to use Redactopia to (a) facilitate or attempt any illegal activity, (b) infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights, (c) interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the integrity or security of any system, network, or service, (d) generate, transmit, or conceal harmful, fraudulent, harassing, or unlawful content, or (e) evade the safety, content, or compliance controls of any third-party service.

You also may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, resell, repackage, redistribute, or create derivative works of Redactopia, except where applicable law expressly allows, and may not use Redactopia's name, logo, or branding without our written permission.

Redactopia is ours. Third-party components aren't.

Redactopia — including its name, branding, website, interface, text, graphics, design, and original code — is owned by Redactopia or its licensors. These Terms transfer none of those rights to you. Third-party libraries, fonts, and components remain governed by their own licenses, which prevail over these Terms for those components.

You cover claims arising from your use.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Redactopia and the people involved in creating or operating it from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of Redactopia, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

Provided "as is" and "as available."

Redactopia is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express, implied, or statutory. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these exclusions, so they may not apply to you.

Use at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Redactopia and the people involved in creating or operating it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of business, loss of profits, data exposure, privacy incident, or other harm related to your use of, or inability to use, Redactopia. Our total liability to you in the aggregate is capped at one hundred US dollars (US$100). The people involved in creating or operating Redactopia are intended third-party beneficiaries of this section. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply.

These terms, and the extension, can change.

We may update these terms, or update, modify, suspend, or discontinue Redactopia, at any time. Continued use after an update is your agreement to the new version. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page is the most recent revision.

We may also remove Redactopia from extension stores, discontinue it, or stop providing updates at any time. These Terms survive any such discontinuation.

The optional paid tier.

Free tier. Redactopia's core protection is free, with no account and no payment. You can use it indefinitely without ever buying Pro.

Pro subscription. Pro unlocks higher limits and additional redaction and detection tools for a recurring fee, billed monthly or annually. Purchases, billing, tax, and license delivery are handled by LemonSqueezy, which acts as Merchant of Record (the seller of record) for all Pro transactions. Your purchase is also subject to LemonSqueezy's own terms and privacy policy.

Free previews. Pro's on-page redaction tools (text, area, and auto-redact) each include a few free previews so you can try them before buying. Previews need no account and no payment, and run entirely in your browser. Once they're used, those tools lock until you buy Pro. You are never charged without an explicit purchase.

Auto-renewal. A paid Pro subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current rate for your plan, until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize that recurring charge.

Cancellation. You can cancel anytime through the management link in your LemonSqueezy receipt, or by contacting us. Cancellation stops future renewals; your Pro access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for. Partial periods aren't prorated.

Refunds. Redactopia does not directly handle or store your payment card details. All payments, refunds, and billing disputes are processed by LemonSqueezy as Merchant of Record, subject to LemonSqueezy's billing policies and applicable law. Any statutory refund or withdrawal rights under your local consumer law (for example, in the EU or UK) still apply. If you believe there is a billing error on our end, email support@redactopia.com and we will work with you to resolve it.

If your subscription ends. When a paid subscription lapses, Redactopia returns to the free tier. Anything you created while on Pro stays in your browser — your custom patterns, custom AI sites, and visual redactions are not deleted. You simply can't add new ones beyond the free limits, or use the Pro-only tools, until you resubscribe.

License keys. Your Pro license key is for your own use across your devices, within the activation limit shown at purchase. Don't share, resell, or publish it. We may deactivate a key that is shared or used in a way that abuses these Terms.

New York, USA.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where legally permitted, disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in New York, New York. If any provision here is invalid or unenforceable, the rest still stands. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Redactopia on this subject; no oral or informal statements modify them. Sections 06, 07, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 16 survive any termination of these Terms.
